Everything is different!
The PROPELLER ISLAND CITY LODGE is a - truly - VERY extraordinary
location. All rooms and objects were created by the German artist
Lars Stroschen. Much more appropriate than "hotel" is the
designation "living in a work of art".
30 rooms with an absolutely unique and personal ambience. "Unique"
is meant literally, for the entirety of all furnishings and other
objects you will discover here are custom-made, individual
handiwork. None can be found anywhere else on this planet -
one could consider the CITY LODGE to be a MUSEUM with guest
accomodations or a stay-in work of SCULPTURE.
The rooms are designed and constructed without compromise (!),
varying from the tame to the extreme, and are well able to more
or less alter your perspective of reality - according to your taste
and sense of adventure.
If you have managed to make the right choices, you will experience
an unforgettable stay at our place! Therefore, it is essential to
take a look to the photos in the web. After all, your trip is
intended to be relaxing and pleasant and to give you complete
satisfaction.
The "extraordinary" character of the CITY LODGE is made evident
by our legal obligation to write INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE for every
room and to give these to our guests after they check in!
How Do We Get There? Bus, Train, Subway or Taxi? A map! >> top <<
From Tegel Airport there is a comfortable bus (BUS 109), which
can bring you to ADENAUER PLATZ in about 30 minutes for 2 Euro
per person. From Adenauer Platz you only need about 5 minutes
to the hotel, depending on how long your legs are.
By TAXI, it will cost around 15 Euro, and the route from Tegel
Airport only takes about 15 minutes.
Schönefeld Airport is quite a ways outside. But even here you can
find a direct means of transportation - the S-Bahn (train) to the
station Bahnhof-Charlottenburg. This takes around 50 minutes and
also costs 2 Euro. On this route, there are a few city blocks to walk
down, but with light luggage and swift feet this can be accomplished
in less than 10 minutes. OR whistle a taxi from the street (not from
the taxi stand, which is more expensive) and travel the 'Kurzstrecke'
(short route) for 3 €.
From Train Station Zoo you will only need a little more than 5
minutes by taxi, down the main street KURFÜRSTEN DAMM. If you
want to walk it and do some sight-seeing along the way, you will
need about half an hour, with one of the many buses traveling in
the direction of Adenauerplatz approximately 10 minutes.
The Ostbahnhof (trainstation)is located in the eastern part of
Berlin. From here, it is best to take the S-Bahn to Bahnhof-
Charlottenburg, which will take about 25 minutes. From there,
walk or take a taxi (see above). From trainstation Lehrter
Stadtbahnhof it will take about 15 min., same to s-Bahnhof-
Charlottenburg.
By CAR: Berlin in the direction of the city centre, to Wilmersdorf,
exit Kurfürstendamm, the Albrecht-Achilles Str. crosses the Ku'Damm
after half a km, then turn right.
Reservation >> top <<
Please select 3 ROOMS you would particularly like to stay in. The
limitation to only one room choice may not work (as your favourite
room may be rented already). For the reservation please use our
reservation form on our webside.
A change of room during a hotel visit costs 25 Euro. If you stay a
minimum of 4 nights one room-change is free, if you like.
You can reach us for personal queries during our office hours 8:00
a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at +49 - (0)30 - 891 90 16. At all other times
messages can be left on our answering machine or you call us
mobile 0163 - 256 59 09 for general informations.
Reception? NO Reception! >> top <<
A reception desk in the conventional sense (open 24 hours a day)
doesn't exist at the City Lodge, since it would be difficult if not
impossible for a modest establishment to offer such exclusive and
carefully constructed rooms at reasonable prices for its guests.
Instead, there is an office open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
Extremely important: YOUR TIME OF ARRIVAL! Because of the limited opening times we require your time of
arrival unconditionally. Then, someone will come (!) to the hotel
to open the front door. Your mobile number would be very
helpful (that is, if you've brought one along!) in case of any
delays or changes in your arriving.
Prices and Payment >> top <<
The prices indicated on the web are single room rates. Every
additional person per room - to the extent this is possible -
costs 15 Euro per night. Breakfast costs 7 Euro per person.
Credit Cards >> top <<
You can pay by VISA, MasterCard, JCB, Maestro and EC-card.
Internet >> top <<
The City Lodge is connected via HotSpot (Telecom). With a
notebook and wireless lan card you have internet access.
Security Deposit for Keys >> top <<
Due to the fact that our reception office is not always open,
we would still like to make sure our hotel keys are not mistakenly
taken along on your trip home! Your passport, I.D. card or plane
ticket can be safely left at our office as security for your hotel
keys.
Common Baths, Rooms with Favorable Conditions >> top <<
Due to spatial considerations, it was not possible to instal
bathrooms in some of the rooms, as there was only space for
a wash basin. Whoever stays in these rooms can make use of
the common bathrooms - cozy but classy - directly adjacent.
For your short journey there, we will gladly supply you with a
bathrobe! As compensation: these rooms were especially and
caringly designed and rank among the most fascinating in the
City Lodge. And they offer the most favourable conditions.
Parking >> top <<
We do not have our own parking lot. But parking spaces can
easily be found in front of the hotel, or around the corner.
Momentarily, parking is still free in our immediate vicinity, i.e.
without parking metres and zones.
We ask for a big favour >> top <<
The Propeller Island City Lodge is a piece of art that was planed
to be used in terms of a hotel. But however some of the materials
are a lot more sensitive than usual: the plexiglas is getting
easyly scratches, the same it is with or the dark and intense
wall-colours when you slide your bags upon them - only to take
only two examples. That is the nature of these materials and
you cannot change it - except you make a boring hotel.
If you are becoming guest of the for Propeller Island City Lodge
we like to ask you to keep this difference in mind and to move
with some care within that artwork.
We guarantee a very unusual stay in one of the most exciting
residences to stay. And we hope that all the others coming after
you will enjoy it the same.
We wish you an inspiring stay in our exciting visionsmachine!
